Our story · told by the founder
I went south for a degree.I returned on a mission.
I'm Navjot Singh Rajput. I went to NIT Trichy to study a Masters in Power Electronics, and fell in love with authentic South Indian food instead. A single bite of a real Trichy dosa revealed a world of difference. This is how that bite became Cauvery Chutney.

A friendship, a restaurant
In Trichy I grew close to Lawrence, the mess manager, a man who knew South Indian food like few people do. We called him Anna, “elder brother.”
Over countless meals and conversations, a simple idea took shape between us: head north, open a small outlet, and share the real taste of South India with everyone.
That became our foundation: serve authentic South Indian food at the most honest price possible. No shortcuts, just the food we fell in love with.

“In the South, the food was affordable, abundant, and better in every way. People in the North deserve to taste the real thing, not a watered-down imitation.”

Four turns
How it happened
01NIT Trichy: a degree and a discovery
I moved south for a Masters in Power Electronics; a bite of real street food changed everything. The gap between what I ate in Trichy and what was served up north was impossible to ignore.

Navjot and Anna, Trichy 02The bond: friendship with Anna
With Lawrence, whom we called Anna, I shared countless meals, and a friendship grew. Together we made a plan: bring the real taste of the South to Delhi.

Anna 03The idea: authenticity for all
In the South the food was affordable and excellent; in the North, expensive and diluted. My mission became simple: authentic South Indian food at a minimal price, so everyone could taste the real thing.

The room I pictured in Trichy: green walls, Kathakali on the wall, brass lamps and a chandelier that has no business working as well as it does.
